Hazel’s Helpers Wins Award from The National Parenting Center!

by SimplyFun

SimplyFun’s latest Life & Thinking Skills game has earned the prestigious ‘Seal of Approval‘ award from The National Parenting Center! Hazel’s Helpers is a Fall 2021 award-winner among a handful of other tested and awarded children’s products.

About the Seal of Approval

The National Parenting Center’s Seal of Approval program is an independent testing procedure for products marketed to parents and children. It evaluates each product’s level of desirability, sturdiness, interactive stimulation, and other ingredients essential for determining a high-quality product. The Seal of Approval program continues the efforts of The National Parenting Center, which was chartered in 1989 to help create better informed parents.

Why Hazel’s Helpers is a Winner

“The game is ideal for busy families and parents who want to play more with their kids but don’t have the luxury of time,” explains the judging team from The National Parenting Center. “A game takes roughly 15 minutes to play, and your child will get that much-needed one-on-one time they crave and deserve. This unique game not only teaches kids about beavers, it also improves fine motor skills and practices decision-making. Furthermore, it helps master counting by adding and subtracting from 0 to 10.”

How to Play

Players start with 10 log pieces and two cattail pawns. Then, take turns rolling the die—which is marked with various symbols—to determine their actions. Based on the roll, you’ll either connect logs to build their beaver lodge, remove or replace cattails, roll the rock towards an opposing player’s lodge or interact with the ducks–maybe even quack like one! Also, if your roll lands on the beaver tail ‘slap’ symbol, everyone claps their hands to mimic the sound of a beaver tail slapping the water. After that, the player gets to roll again! The first player to use all 10 of their logs to build their lodge wins the game! Hazel’s Helpers is great for 2-4 players ages 4 and older, and takes 15 minutes to play.
